Privacy Policy — GEO 8

Android application com.walk.fleetmobile
Last updated: 16 August 2026

This policy explains what personal data the GEO 8 mobile app collects, why it is collected, and what rights you have. GEO 8 is a commercial fleet management app used by drivers on behalf of their employer or fleet operator. It is not a consumer product.

1. Who operates this app

GEO 8 is developed and operated under the name Walktek by:

Hussein Tarhini
{{STREET_AND_NUMBER}}
{{POSTCODE}} {{CITY}}
Germany

Email: sales@walktek.io

2. Background location collection

GEO 8 collects your device's precise GPS location in the background — that is, while the app is closed or not in use.

Background location is collected continuously while a shift is active, and stops when the shift ends.

This is necessary for the app's core feature: live vehicle tracking. A fleet operator must be able to see where an active vehicle is in real time. Drivers use the phone for navigation, calls and other tasks during a shift, so tracking that only worked while the app was on screen would leave gaps in the vehicle's position history and break the feature.

Location data is used only for fleet management purposes described in this policy. It is not sold, and it is not used for advertising.

3. Data we collect

4. Why we process this data

All processing serves commercial fleet management on behalf of our fleet-operator clients. Location data is collected in an employment context — the driver's employer or fleet operator decides that tracking takes place — not for personal or consumer use.

Specifically, data is used to:

5. Roles under the GDPR

Our role differs depending on the data in question.

Where we act as processor

For driver data processed through GEO 8 — location, trip history, vehicle assignment — the fleet-operator client is the controller: it decides why and how its drivers' data is processed. Walktek acts as a processor and processes that data only on the client's documented instructions, under a data processing agreement.

Where we act as controller

For a limited set of data we determine the purposes of ourselves — account credentials, authentication records, and technical and usage logs used to secure, operate and troubleshoot the service — Walktek is the controller.

If you are a driver, direct requests about your location and trip data to your employer or fleet operator in the first instance. You may also contact us at sales@walktek.io and we will forward the request to the responsible controller.

6. Legal basis (GDPR Art. 6)

PurposeLegal basis
Live vehicle tracking and trip/shift history for the fleet operator Art. 6(1)(f) — legitimate interests of the fleet operator in managing its vehicles, operations and safety, as determined by that controller. Where the controller relies on a different basis (for example a works agreement or national employment law under Art. 88), that basis applies instead.
Account creation, authentication, driver–vehicle assignment Art. 6(1)(b) — performance of the contract between the fleet operator and Walktek, and the employment relationship between driver and operator.
Service operation, security, troubleshooting Art. 6(1)(f) — legitimate interest in a secure and functioning service.
Compliance with legal obligations (e.g. record-keeping) Art. 6(1)(c) — legal obligation of the controller.

7. Third parties and subprocessors

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. Data may be disclosed where required by law.

8. International transfers

Data subjects are located in Nigeria. The infrastructure processing their data is hosted in AWS region af-south-1 (Cape Town, South Africa). Walktek, as operator, is based in Germany, and access from Germany for support and administration constitutes a transfer of data out of the hosting region.

Neither Nigeria nor South Africa is covered by a European Commission adequacy decision. Where a transfer falls under the GDPR, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR). Transfers are limited to what is necessary to operate the service.

9. Retention

Location, trip and account data is retained for 24 months, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Retention periods may also be set by the fleet-operator client as controller; we delete or return data on the controller's instruction or at the end of the contract, whichever is earlier.

10. Your rights

Subject to the conditions in the GDPR, you have the right to:

To exercise these rights, contact your fleet operator (the controller) or write to sales@walktek.io.

You may lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority in your country of residence or workplace. The authority competent for Walktek is:
